
Katie Skende
Katie Skende is a Sr. Director of Programs and Markets at Stem Inc, focused on managing Stem’s behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter energy storage assets in programs across the United States and Canada, delivering millions of dollars in value to Stem’s customers. In this role she has ensured the successful operation of hundreds of battery storage systems, configured as virtual power plants (VPPs), in utility programs which increases confidence in storage’s ability to participate in various markets and deliver successful program outcomes for utilities and customers. The programs her team works on include system peak reduction, wholesale market participation, capacity market participation, and demand response which provide benefits from the electricity system level to the individual consumer level. Prior to joining Stem, she worked for GE Power, in their Edison Engineering and Development program, and later as a Performance Engineer working on heavy-duty gas turbines. Katie has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
