Abdallah El Badaoui is a BESS and PV asset manager at DESRI, overseeing the company’s first two utility-scale BESS assets totaling approximately 1 GWh — a landmark in DESRI’s growth as an independent power producer.
He brings global experience across engineering and economics, having earned a petroleum engineering degree in Malaysia, followed by a dual master’s in Energy Economics from IFP School in France and the Colorado School of Mines.
Before joining DESRI, he was a consultant at Rystad Energy, advising energy majors on Oil & Gas and decarbonization Strategy, LCOE/LCOH modeling, and market entry across clean energy technologies. He is the author of a technoeconomic analysis of CO₂ plume geothermal systems, published at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Conference.
A lifelong SPE member and recipient of the SPE Presidential Award for Chapter Excellence, Abdallah was named an Energy Leader of Tomorrow by Energy Intelligence in 2020 and represented the Union of Comoros as an official delegate at COP28 — driven by a commitment to energy innovation and climate policy.
